Laundry

The range of SpaceVac high level cleaning systems proved itself to be a popular choice for the cleaning team working at this large industrial laundry facility in Brisbane Australia who recently introduced the system to their work and have quickly seen the benefits and savings!

One of the most important tasks facing the cleaning team onsite was the need to keep the facility as free from lint as possibe. As a way of tackling this probem, the management onsite had previously undertaken a number of hardware upgrades onsite in the form of  14 Lint blow-down fans being installed, which blew the dust and lint down from higher levels.

While in the short term, this helped to keep the upper levels free from lint and nice and clean, the rest of the building still required regular cleaning (a 6 monthly cycle was introduced) – where an outside cleaning company would enter the building and hoover up the lower level dust.

Presented together – the situation presented a number of issues for the team working onsite not least the health and safety risks to employees onsite breathing in these materials. In addition the cleaning method very expensive; the cost for installing the 14 fans alone totalled $50,000 worth of capital investment onsite. In addition the regular cleans were adding further cost to the tune of nearly $30,000 per year in cleaning fees as well as impacting on production at peak times through the year as well.

By using SpaceVac as an alternative onsite, the team were able to  make a number of significant operational changes.

To begin with;  cleanliness standards onsite improved instantly with all materials now being removed on a regular basis rather than sitting for long periods of time – this in turn had the knock on effect of improving the health of workers, increasing productivity and reducing the risk of explosion.

In addition, the system meant that the plant no longer needed to utilise the expensive fans full time – meaning no more maintenance or power costs either.

The system paid for itself onsite within a matter of weeks and is now being rolled out to other production facilities across Australia
